Mujawarah and Local Communities Organisation Launch Partnership to Strengthen Community Empowerment in Palestine

Mujawarah for Life and Development – United Kingdom, and the Local Communities Organisation in the northern West Bank – Jenin, have announced the launch of a new partnership aimed at strengthening community empowerment and supporting local initiatives in Palestine through community-based programmes and participatory learning approaches.

The partnership was announced during an online meeting that brought together representatives from both organisations, where key areas of collaboration were presented and discussed. These included the development of community programmes and initiatives, capacity building, knowledge exchange, improved coordination, resource mobilisation, and the development of joint projects that respond to the needs of local communities in Palestine.

Maree Bashir, Director of Mujawarah for Life and Development, highlighted the importance of building community partnerships based on collaboration and the exchange of expertise, noting that such initiatives contribute to empowering local communities to develop sustainable solutions rooted in their own needs and priorities.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Mujawarah for Life and Development, Dr Mohammed Al-Rozzi stated that Mujawarah emerged from the collective experiences and expertise of its team members, who brought valuable and inspiring experiences from working with local communities at both local and international levels. He emphasised the importance of strengthening the Palestinian community-based approach built on participation and social resilience, while overcoming the realities imposed by the occupation on Palestinian geography and collective action. He added that there is an increasing need today to create opportunities and initiatives that rebuild social cohesion, strengthen collective identity, and encourage participatory community work.

For his part, Motasem Zayed, Executive Director of the Local Communities Organisation, stressed the importance of supporting locally driven initiatives that respond directly to community needs, highlighting the need to expand spaces for collaboration and participatory work in ways that support the resilience and sustainability of local communities.

Participants also discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation with local councils and community groups, particularly in light of the challenges facing community work in Gaza and the West Bank, while emphasising the importance of continuing to develop cultural and community initiatives that strengthen social cohesion and support sustainable development.

This partnership reflects a shared vision to strengthen community action, exchange knowledge and expertise, and create new opportunities for collaboration that support local communities and enhance the impact of community-based initiatives across Palestine.

مجاورة ومؤسسة مجتمعات محلية تطلقان شراكة لتعزيز التمكين المجتمعي في فلسطين

أعلنت مؤسسة “مجاورة للحياة والتنمية” – المملكة المتحدة، ومؤسسة “مجتمعات محلية” في شمال الضفة الغربية – جنين، عن انطلاق تعاون وشراكة جديدة تهدف إلى تعزيز التمكين المجتمعي ودعم المبادرات المحلية في فلسطين، من خلال تطوير برامج ومشاريع قائمة على المشاركة المجتمعية والتعلم التشاركي

وجرى الإعلان عن الشراكة خلال لقاء افتراضي جمع ممثلين عن المؤسستين، حيث تم استعراض مجالات التعاون التي تشمل تطوير البرامج والمبادرات المجتمعية، وبناء القدرات، وتبادل المعرفة، وتعزيز التنسيق، وتعبئة الموارد، إلى جانب تطوير مشاريع مشتركة تستجيب لاحتياجات المجتمعات المحلية في فلسطين

وأكدت مرعي بشير، مديرة مؤسسة “مجاورة للحياة والتنمية”، أهمية بناء شراكات مجتمعية قائمة على التعاون وتبادل الخبرات، مشيرةً إلى أن هذه المبادرات تسهم في تعزيز دور المجتمعات المحلية وتمكينها من تطوير حلول مستدامة تنطلق من احتياجاتها وأولوياتها

وفي كلمة له نيابةً عن مجلس إدارة مؤسسة “مجاورة للحياة والتنمية”، أكد الدكتور محمد الرزي أن مجاورة جاءت ثمرةً لتجارب وخبرات أعضاء فريقها، الذين حملوا تجارب نوعية وملهمة مستمدة من العمل مع المجتمعات المحلية على المستويين المحلي والدولي، مشيراً إلى أهمية تعزيز النهج المجتمعي الفلسطيني القائم على المشاركة والصمود المجتمعي، وتجاوز السياقات التي فرضها الواقع تحت الاحتلال على الجغرافيا الفلسطينية والعمل المشترك، مؤكداً أن الحاجة اليوم أصبحت أكبر لبناء فرص ومبادرات تعيد تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي والسياق الجمعي والعمل التشاركي

من جهته، أكد معتصم زايد، المدير التنفيذي لمؤسسة “مجتمعات محلية”، أهمية تعزيز المبادرات المحلية القائمة على احتياجات المجتمع، مشدداً على ضرورة توسيع مساحات التعاون والعمل التشاركي بما يسهم في دعم المجتمعات المحلية وتعزيز صمودها واستدامتها

كما ناقش المشاركون أهمية التعاون مع المجالس المحلية والمجموعات المجتمعية، خاصةً في ظل التحديات التي تواجه العمل المجتمعي في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية، مؤكدين أهمية الاستمرار في تطوير المبادرات الثقافية والمجتمعية التي تعزز التماسك المجتمعي وتدعم التنمية المستدامة

وتأتي هذه الشراكة ضمن رؤية مشتركة تهدف إلى تعزيز العمل المجتمعي، وتبادل الخبرات والمعرفة، وفتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون بما يسهم في دعم المجتمعات المحلية وتعزيز أثر المبادرات المجتمعية في فلسطين
